Weber harvesting has been involved in farming and custom harvesting since 1945. It was started by Sam Weber. He farmed in Wyoming, and in 1947 he set out with a couple of combines and some hired men to Seymour, Texas, where they began the custom harvest run. He harvested in '47,'48, and '49, then he chose to stay home and farm and do some local harvesting. In the fall of 1968, while Sam and his son Ron sat up on a roof of a house, Sam said, "Lets buy some combines and go South." So, in the spring of 1969, they were off to Seymour, Texas again to begin their harvest run. They got back two jobs, one in Seymour and the other in Dumas,Texas, jobs that Sam had done 20 yrs prior. Over the years, Sam and Ron ran as many as 4 combines.
After
the 1981
harvest was over, they decided to quit going South and stay home
to harvest in the state of Wyoming. Shawn, who is Ron's youngest
son,
grew up in a combine and has been running them since he was 12yrs
old. In 1996, Shawn told his father that they should go back out
on the
road and Ron told him to first hire on with another crew to get
a feel for the business and see what he thought about it. So in 1997,
Shawn
at 22yrs old hired on with Roland Harvesting to see what it was
all
about. |

In the spring of 1998, Shawn was working on equipment and getting ready to hit the road. We set out and ended up in southern Oklahoma for our first stop. We had a bit of a struggle at times getting a run established, and we were very fortunate to get back three jobs that Sam and Ron had 16 years prior. Since then, we have established a very good cliental list, have become very good friends with lots of very good people, and have seen lots of wonderful country. We harvest in Oklahoma, then up to Kansas, to Nebraska, back home for a while to get all the machines geared back up for the fall harvest, then off to Nebraska and Kansas for fall harvesting. |
